Colicky or Gassy Baby? Philips Avent Can Help!

IMG_7814.JPG

For as long as I can remember, Zane has had really bad gas and a sensitive tummy - and as a result was really fussy the first few months after he was born. It was a really hard to sit and watch our son cry from discomfort... despite every effort to help him. Thankfully as he grew up the fussiness subsided substantially, but he still suffers with gas, especially at night, so I was excited to discover Philips Avent's Anti-Colic Bottle. I was even happier to partner with Philips Avent and PTPA to try out the Anti-Colic Bottles for a few weeks and share my feedback with you.

To start, they have the PTPA Seal of Approval, which means that they were put in the hands of real parents and were tested, reviewed and approved! They are designed with special features and were clinically proven to reduce colic, discomfort AND gas. Their special features include an Airflex venting system which helps to reduce the amount of air that your baby ingests, a ribbed texture that helps to prevent nipple collapse during feeding and, my favourite, no special parts (unlike many of the other anti-colic bottles on the market). They actually have the same amount of parts as the Philips Avent Natural Bottles, so they're easy to clean and assemble.

The "Clinically Proven" claim is what really had me excited to try them out. Many of you don't know, but I majored in Biology in university, and so I LOVE clinical studies and products that are thoroughly tested and that have studies to substantiate their claims :). Philips Avent tested their Anti-Colic Bottles against another leading bottle brand on the market and found that their bottles reduced colic by 60% compared to the other brand! That is HUGE and such a big deal to any parent who has a fussy baby with colic or gas. Naturally, it was in my nature to try a similar test with Zane because he still suffers with discomfort at night and wakes up several times fussing from gas. I decided to track his waking times due to discomfort using the Philips Avent uGrow app for an entire week and then track his sleep patters after using the Philips Avent Anti-Colic Bottles to see if there was an improvement! The Philips Avent uGrow app allows you to track so much more than sleep.... you can track your baby's feedings, dirty diapers, growth and even milestones!

You can see the results from my trial with Zane below:

I tracked Zane's waking and sleeping patterns from the 19th-22nd of Nov  on the Philips Avent uGrow app. You can see his sleeping in blue bars and the waking up as the spaces between the blue bars.

I started using the Philips Avent Anti-Colic bottles on the 22nd at night and you can see that Zane woke up a lot less and was awake for shorter periods of time!

Before using the Philips Avent Anti-Colic Bottles at night, Zane was waking up about 1 hour every night, and after using them, he was only waking up 3-4 minutes total! I'm amazed by the results. I have to highly recommend these bottles to any parent that struggles with a gassy, fussy or sensitive baby! The bottle's design helped improve Zane's gas and discomfort at night and there are no difficult or weird shaped parts to clean or assemble!
